Allocation of seats in the Council of States
Fixes the number of seats allotted to each State and Union Territory in the Rajya Sabha (Council of States). The total elected strength is 233; with 12 members nominated by the President, the full sanctioned strength is 245.

Note.The Fourth Schedule is amended by Parliament whenever new States are created or reorganised. The nominated members (12) are appointed by the President under Article 80(1)(a) for their special knowledge of literature, science, art and social service, and are not part of this Schedule.
